Napbun Privacy Policy
Napbun is an iPhone app for parents of babies aged 4 to 24 months. This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain words. It covers the Napbun app and this website (napbun.com).
The short version
- Your baby's sleep log stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. We run no server for it and we cannot read it.
- There are no accounts. You don't give us a name, an email address or a phone number to use the app.
- Anonymous usage statistics are sent only if you say yes. Until you answer, nothing is sent. If you say no, nothing is sent.
- If you buy Napbun Plus, Apple and our purchase provider send us the purchase record. We never see your card details.
- No ads. No tracking across other companies' apps or websites. We never sell your data.
- Napbun is for parents and caregivers, not for children.
1. What stays on your devices and in your iCloud
When you use Napbun, you may enter:
- your baby's name (optional), birth month and, if you add it, a due date
- sleep times: bedtime, night wakings, wake-up, naps, and where your baby slept
- short morning answers, such as how manageable the night felt and how many times your baby woke
- notes about a night, such as "unwell", "vaccine" or "travel"
- your usual bedtime, wake-up time and routine steps
- answers to the setup safety questions
Where each part lives:
- On your device. Napbun keeps a local copy on your iPhone.
- In your private iCloud. To keep your devices in step, Napbun syncs the sleep log through Apple's CloudKit, in the private database of your own iCloud account. We have no server, no developer access to that database and no way to read it. Apple processes it under your Apple Account and Apple's terms.
- Health answers stay on the device only. Your answers to the setup health questions are never synced to iCloud. They are used on your phone to shape suggestions and safety checks. Napbun doesn't use HealthKit.
- Family sharing. This version of Napbun does not share your baby's log with anyone. If a later version adds sharing, it will be off until you invite someone, and this policy will be updated first.
- Pediatrician PDF. If you create the PDF or an export file, it is made on your phone. It goes only where you send it.
Your answers to setup questions never change prices, offers or reminders.
2. What we receive
Anonymous usage statistics (only if you say yes)
Napbun asks once whether you want to share anonymous usage. You can change your answer any time in Settings, using the "Share anonymous usage" switch.
- While you haven't answered, nothing is sent.
- If you say no, nothing is sent, and anything waiting to be sent is thrown away.
- If you say yes, the app sends short event messages to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service. Napbun doesn't use the advertising identifier and doesn't ask to track you across other companies' apps or websites. Examples: which screen opened, which feature was used, counts such as the number of nights logged or morning answers given, and whether your baby is under 4 months.
- Each message also carries the app version, the iOS version, device type, your language, region and time zone, and a random identifier. The service also turns your device's vendor identifier into a one-way scrambled value so it can count how many devices are active.
- These messages never contain your baby's name, birth date, notes, sleep log or any text you type.
We use this only to see what helps tired parents and to fix what doesn't. The statistics are not linked to your identity, and we don't use them for tracking.
Purchases
If you buy Napbun Plus, the purchase goes through Apple. Apple handles your payment, and we never see or store your card or billing details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to confirm that a purchase is active. RevenueCat receives the App Store transaction and an anonymous app user identifier. We don't send it your name, email address or any sleep data. We use it to unlock Plus and to see overall sales numbers.
Support messages
If you write to us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it to answer you. Please don't send medical details. Support can help with the app, your subscription and your data, but not with medical questions.
What we don't collect
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings or advertising identifier.
- No account, password, phone number or social media login.
- This version of Napbun does not use the camera.
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone, only for the ones you turn on in Settings.
3. How we use information
- To run the app: logging, sync, routines, changes to try and results.
- To unlock Plus for you.
- To improve Napbun, using the anonymous statistics you chose to share.
- To answer your support messages.
We don't sell your information. We don't share it for advertising. We don't build profiles about you or your baby.
4. Who else is involved
- Apple: iCloud and CloudKit for sync, the App Store for purchases, and crash reports if you've chosen to share them with developers in your iPhone settings.
- TelemetryDeck: anonymous usage statistics, only if you say yes.
- RevenueCat: confirms Plus subscriptions.
These services have their own privacy policies:
- TelemetryDeck privacy policy. In its privacy FAQ, TelemetryDeck says it never stores IP addresses. It also says it has no fixed deletion schedule for the anonymous events it receives and expects to delete them after 7 to 10 years, without a guarantee.
- RevenueCat privacy policy. RevenueCat says it uses the information it receives about app users only to provide its service to us, and that it acts on our behalf. Its policy does not say whether it stores app users' IP addresses, and it does not give a retention period for app users' purchase records.
We may disclose information if the law requires it. Because the sleep log is in your iCloud and not with us, we have no log to hand over.
5. Your choices and controls
- See and export your data. In Settings, open "Your data" to export your baby's log as a JSON file or to make a PDF for your pediatrician.
- Delete your data. In Settings, open "Your data" and choose "Delete all of" followed by your baby's name. It waits 24 hours so you can cancel, and then removes the log from your iPhone right away and from iCloud as soon as your iPhone is online. If it is offline, the removal from iCloud finishes by itself later. Your other devices signed in with the same Apple ID remove it the next time they're online. iCloud can keep a short-lived notice, with none of your baby's data in it, so that your other devices learn about the deletion. Copies that someone saved, for example an exported file or a PDF, stay with them. It removes you from the share and clears the copy on your phone.
- Deleting the app. Removing Napbun from your iPhone removes the local copy. It does not remove what is stored in your iCloud. Use the delete option first if you want that gone. You can also manage app data in iCloud in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then iCloud.
- Anonymous usage. Turn "Share anonymous usage" off in Settings at any time.
- Purchase and statistics data. These records can't be tied back to you by name, so we usually can't find them. Write to us if you want help: support@napbun.com. We will pass deletion requests on to TelemetryDeck and RevenueCat where we can.
- Notifications. Control them in Napbun's Settings or in iOS Settings.
6. Children's privacy
Napbun is directed at parents and caregivers, not at children, and it isn't in the Kids category. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Information about your baby is entered by you, and it stays on your devices and in your iCloud. We don't receive it. If you think a child has given us personal information, write to us at support@napbun.com and we will delete it.
7. Security
Your log is stored in your iCloud account and protected by your Apple Account. We use Apple's services and don't run a separate server for your log. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your Apple Account with a passcode and two-factor authentication.
8. Where information is processed
Napbun is available in many countries. The services below may process information in a different country from the one you live in.
- Apple (iCloud). Your sleep log is stored in your own iCloud account. Apple, not us, decides where iCloud data is stored.
- TelemetryDeck. TelemetryDeck GmbH is a German company. Its privacy FAQ says its servers are at Microsoft Azure in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), at Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt (Germany) and at Hetzner in Falkenstein and Nürnberg (Germany).
- RevenueCat. RevenueCat, Inc. says it stores information on Amazon Web Services in the United States, and that customer data sent to it from around the world goes to AWS data centers in the United States.
Where you live
Your baby's sleep log stays on your device and in your own iCloud, and anonymous usage statistics are sent only after you say yes. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, data protection law (the GDPR and the UK GDPR) gives you the right to see, correct, delete and object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. If you want to use these rights, write to support@napbun.com and we will answer. Because there are no accounts and the sleep log never reaches us, we may not be able to find records that belong to you; we will tell you if that is the case.
If you live in the United States
Several US states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Virginia, have privacy laws that give residents rights over their personal information. For Napbun:
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. There is no targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising in Napbun.
- We do not use personal information for profiling that leads to decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
- We do not receive your baby's sleep log or your health answers. They stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.
- What we may receive is described in section 2: anonymous usage statistics (only if you say yes), purchase records tied to an anonymous identifier, and the email you send us if you write.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information (we do neither), and we will not treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, write to support@napbun.com. You can also ask someone else to write for you. We may ask a few questions to be sure the request is yours, and because there are no accounts we may not be able to find records that belong to you; we will tell you if that is the case. We aim to answer within 45 days. If you disagree with our answer, reply and ask us to look again, or contact your state attorney general.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects what Napbun collects, we'll tell you in the app before it starts.
